Economy (Main sources of income resources)

The local economy in Ondangwa is mainly agriculture dominated. Most of the people are doing subsistence farming where they are delivering their income. With the introduction of the railway to the Northern part of the country and other infrastructure such land and availability of labour, the town economy is excepted to move from subsistence farming to a more of a transport and industrial related economy.

 Meat/Farm Products

The only problem in Ondangwa is that in the town does not have or there are no farmer products processing plants to compliment the farming population in producing processed and market ready meat or dairy products. Most f the communal farmers in and around town prefer to exported livestock in most quantities having only one small substandard small scale abattoirs in the town.

 Accommodation

With the Government’s decentralization process and the many public and private institutions bringing their offices to the town, there is a big lockage in the accommodation of this working class. Most especially now that the tow is seeing growth there is definitely a good opportunity in building flats or development of properties for hire.
