
The mandate of the Ondangwa town council derives from Article 1 and Chapter 12 of the Namibian Constitution, and the Local Authorities Act, 1992, (Act 23 of 1992) as amended.
Ondangwa Town Council's mandate is to govern and administer local authority affairs within the proclaimed local authority area of Ondangwa subject to legislation.
Mission
To govern and administer local affairs of the inhabitants of Ondangwa town through planning coordination, and partnership in the delivery of urban services towards socio-economic development and improved quality of life.

To become an engine of sustainable development.
The location of Ondangwa makes the town a natural gateway of the Northern Regions (Oshana, Oshikoto, Ohangwena and Omusati) including the neighboring Angola.
